Comprising site works and a two-storey office/workshop/warehouse building, a 1600m2 workshop/warehouse, a 570m2 two level workshop area and two 880m2 level offices. Among the custom requirements for this project was a factory/warehouse roof to a height of 18.5m to house a 220-tonne gantry crane and large-scale equipment including a super-size vertical lathe and boring machine.
Steve Haskayne was engaged as the Superintendent of the D & C AS4300-1995 contract, charged with overseeing and establishing a development program and achieving target milestones; coordinating and appointing design consultants; producing tender documentation; analysing and assessing tender bids of various consultants; reporting to the client with recommendations; undertaking regular site meetings and inspections; reviewing and approving progress claims and claims for extension of time(s) and/or notification of delays; issuing the necessary certificate(s) and notice(s); preparing client monthly financial/project report(s); negotiating contract variations and cost adjustment(s); and dealing with all technical queries. Also tasked with the coordination of practical completion details including sign offs from consultants and various authorities after final inspections, finalising the head contractor account, and monitoring defects and any corrections until final completion.
