Our History.

Plato Consulting is one of Western Australia’s most experienced commercial project management advisories, specialising in the construction of major developments across the education, healthcare and retail sectors.

Established in 2011, Plato Consulting is an evolution of Managing Director Steve Haskayne’s extensive 45 years’ experience as a registered builder and construction project manager. With a Post Graduate Certificate in Construction Law, it was a natural progression for Steve to fuse his unique skillset with his wealth of industry knowledge and form Plato Consulting: all-encompassing project management and superintendent services with a focus on complete ‘cradle to the grave’ solutions.

Independent advice you can trust.

In 2015 Plato Consulting became a wholly independent advisory service and has continued to strengthen its expertise and services. Plato is renowned for its ability to deliver various projects on time and within budget, on a consistent basis.

Plato Consulting’s unique and streamlined approach to project management has in the past saved clients up to 3% of the total percentage of consultants’ fees. Consultant’s fees can be up to circa 10% of the cost of a project. A 3% reduction in fees equates to substantial savings for clients, potentially in the tens of thousands of dollars depending on project value.

Plato Consulting can coordinate all aspects of a project, ensuring deadlines are adhered to and the budget is aligned with, without compromising the project’s overall quality. This is achieved by monitoring all project activities and ensuring clients have full visibility of each stage of project including any progress reports.

Plato Consulting's advisory services cover the full lifecycle of a construction project. If a project is in its infancy, Plato can recommend service providers, which are based on the teams’ knowledge of the WA building design and construction sector, and an extensive network of industry professionals.

Plato’s services continue beyond the final stage of the project. Following practical completion there will be a defect liability period (typically one year), which then leads into the Buildings Commission warranty period of six years. If any issues occur during these periods, Plato Consulting will recall the contractor to rectify issues in a timely and professional manner. When the warranty period has ended, Plato will engage with a facility management team under a separate contract to ensure the general upkeep of the building, according to and on behalf of client’s wishes and instructions.
