MIT College, Murdoch University.
Value: $5m
Role: Project Manager.
Employed by the builder, Steve Haskayne was engaged to project manage the construction and fit out of a new IT training building accommodating staff and student facilities. The building is a two-storey structure with a curtain wall glazed façade to two elevations and coloured concrete tilt-up panel and steel construction to the remainder of the building. The fit out included toilet facilities and lecture and practical rooms for staff and students. Part of the contract included the replacement of main transformers and switchboards servicing adjoining university buildings.
The MIT College site is located next to a childcare centre and there were strict provisions to be adhered to regarding noisy work and environmental constraints. Pyramid investigated various construction methodology during the tender period and offered our client a substantial reduction in the construction timeframe. Plato Consulting’s role included the coordination and connection of services to the new building. Works were not to impact the operation of the school or car park. Reinstatement of all areas affected by site services, extensions to the condition prior to the works commencing. The project was completed in 2008.
